Armenian Parliament calls on the world community to recognize the Armenian Genocide, the Spanish newspaper El Mundo writes, commenting on Armenian Parliament’s statement, unanimously adopted Tuesday.

This Friday Armenia marks the 100th anniversary of the mass killings of 1915-16. Russian and French Presidents Vladimir Putin and Francois Hollande will by their presence contribute to the commemoration events held in Yerevan, the newspaper writes.

Over 20 countries, including Russia, France and Lebanon, recognized the murder of Armenians as genocide. The European Parliament, Pope Francis and others use this word, while Germany’s Parliament announced this week that it’s going to adopt a parliamentary resolution on Armenian Genocide recognition.

A number of other countries, such as the United States, UK and Israel refuse to do that, justifying their position by reluctance to spoil their relations with Turkey.

In Lebanon, where a large Armenian community lives, all the schools will be closed this Friday, the newspaper writes.
