According to preliminary information from the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kazakhstan, incumbent President Nursultan Nazarbayev has won Sunday’s early presidential election by receiving 97.7 percent of voters’ support.

The official voting results will be announced by no later than May 3, once the final records are processed, reported TASS news agency of Russia.

Nazarbayev’s challengers, communist Turgun Syzdykov and self-nominated Abelgazy Kussainov, on the other hand, received solely 1.6 and 0.7 percent of the votes, respectively.

According to the CEC data, the voter turnout was at 95.22 percent.
