WASHINGTON, DC. – Freedom House human rights organization has released its Freedom of the Press 2015 report, according to which Armenia is ranked 135th, reported the Washington, DC. correspondent of Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Accordingly, the press freedom in Armenia is on the borderline between “partly free” and “not free.” Armenia, however, has passed Turkey and Mexico in terms of the freedom of the media.

Azerbaijan and Russia, on the other hand, are in the lowest rankings when it comes to the freedom of the press.

As per the report, Norway and Sweden have the world’s most free media, whereas Uzbekistan and North Korea, the least free press.

Freedom House representative Elen Aghekyan noted that the development of technology has positively impacted the freedom of the media in Armenia.

Aghekyan added, however, that Armenia, by joining the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union, has become subjected to a growing pressure from Russia, and it is yet unclear how the events will unfold in Armenia.
