YEREVAN. – Governor Georgy Poltavchenko of Saint Petersburg, Russia, and the official delegation members, who have arrived in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan at the invitation of Mayor Taron Margaryan, paid a visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial.

The delegation paid tribute to the 1.5 million holy martyrs of the genocide by laying a wreath to the Genocide Monument and placing flowers before the Eternal Flame, informed the press service of Yerevan Municipality.

Next, the guests toured the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. In addition, Poltavchenko presented to the museum-institute documents containing historical facts about the assistance which Armenians who survived the genocide had received in Saint Petersburg, which was called Petrograd at the time.

The governor of Saint Petersburg also signed the museum-institute guestbook.

And the deputy director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, Suren Manukyan, presented to Georgy Poltavchenko a silver medal, which was issued in 1916 by the governor of Petrograd during the years of the Armenian Genocide.
