The Turkish Hurriyet magazine journalist Ahmet Hakan expressed his own viewpoint in 7 points confirming the fact of the Armenia Genocide:    

1. We say that the word ‘genocide’ is used by imperialists. The greatest imperialist is the United States, but they don’t use that word.

2. If we speak about the attacks conducted by the Armenian armed forces…Well, what does subjecting all Armenians to deportation mean and how could that result in Armenians’ slaughter? Why was the blame of armed persons laid on innocent Armenians?    

3. Why do we call Young Turks, responsible for Armenians’ slaughters, our ancestors instead of Rashid Bay, Mehmet Bay and Faik Ali Bey, who protected Armenians? Why don’t we cry that they are our ancestors?  

4. Now I’m addressing those who say that nothing happened and that all this is a lie. What happened to Armenians, who were the most ancient nation on these lands? Where did they leave? What happened to their property? Who seized their property?

5. We say that the countries with a slaughter and genocide history cannot teach us. Yes, true, but does the statement on the dark past of these countries make our own past brighter?

6. We use the word ‘Armenian’ as an offence. We apologize before using the word ‘Armenian.’ On April 24 we lay a black wreath in front of the ‘Agos’ newspaper office of assassinated Hrant Dink. In this case how can we convince the world that we are humanists and can’t harm even an ant?

7. Anyway, if we say it was a genocide, will this save us from confronting each other? Will we become clean? Will we get rid of all the sins of our history?  What will we do for the shed blood?
