YEREVAN. – The Prime Minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, held a tense consultation last week with the heads of the project implementation offices (PIOs), Hraparak daily reported.

“According to our information, Abrahamyan spoke harshly, [and] said if he were to find out that they [i.e. the heads of the PIOs] are playing games of corruption, they will be tried.

“They say the cause for the PM’s anger was the news he had received about several tenders whereby some small and medium-sized officials had received kickbacks, [but] from which he had received nothing.

“The heads of the PIOs were whispering in fear that there may be dismissals,” Hraparak wrote.
