YEREVAN. – Very soon we will have a very strong and self-confident opposition in Armenia, and which will not lead the Armenian people to defeat.

Opposition Armenian National Congress bloc MP Nikol Pashinyan told the aforesaid to reporters on Saturday, and before the start of the congress of the Civil Accord initiative. Pashinyan stated this in response to Armenian News-NEWS.am’s query on whether or not a political opposition is possible in Armenia after February 12.

As reported earlier, speaking at the February 12 meeting of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Board, President Serzh Sargsyan, who is also chairman of the RPA Board, had stated that then-Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Chairman, MP and oligarch Gagik Tsarukyan had become a vice for the country as a political player. He also relieved the PAP leader from his status as a National Security Council member, and promised that a process will begin in connection with Tsarukyan’s frequent absence from the parliament sessions. And on March 5, Tsarukyan announced that he is quitting the PAP and active politics.

Nikol Pashinyan assured that a political opposition is possible in Armenia.

As for the Civil Accord initiative, the opposition MP stressed that it will become a political party envisioned with a unification plan.
