YEREVAN. – The decision about construction of Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) was adopted by Azerbaijan's Shah-Deniz consortium, King’s College London (UK) analyst Tracey German said during NATO PA Rose-Roth seminar in Yerevan.

Her comment came in response to a question why Armenia was not involved in energy project in the South Caucasus.

“I agree that the shortest way of transportation could be via Armenia, but geopolitical realities had their role,” she emphasized.

Agreement on TANAP was signed on June 26, 2012 in Istanbul. The planned capacity of the pipeline is expected to be 16 billion cubic metres of natural gas per year.
