YEREVAN. – Chief of Armenia's Police Vladimir Gasparyan has arrived at Baghramyan Avenue where activists are protesting against hike in electricity price rise.

He is holding a consultation with police officers, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports.

Earlier police dispersed a sit-in action against rise in electricity prices on Tuesday. Later in the day the demonstrators decided to start a new action in Baghramyan Avenue.

Despite numerous protests, the Public Services Regulatory Commission increased the price of electricity in Armenia, and this decision will take effect on August 1. The decision, however, is expected to be followed by an increase in the prices of numerous products and services in the country.
