YEREVAN. – There will be no scenes at the weekend.

The Chief of Police of Armenia, Vladimir Gasparyan, on Saturday told the aforesaid to reporters at Baghramyan Avenue in capital city Yerevan.

“Be in peace, today is a day of rest, go [and] rest,” said Gasparyan.

Reflecting on Armenian politicians’ and show business stars’ forming a human wall between the police and the demonstrators—that are holding a protest demanding the cancelation of the recent decision to raise the price of electricity in the country—at Baghramyan Avenue, the police chief stated that sometimes this human wall is just a “decoration.”

Asked how effective this human wall is, he responded: “(…). If the [famous Armenian] people have come with [a sense of] concern and they want to solve the problem, they need to give their knowhow, their age, [and] life experience to those youth, so that provocateurs don’t enter among them.”
