YEREVAN. - On the Day of Missing Freedom Fighters, Armenia’s Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and members of the Commission on POWs, Hostages and Missing People randomly visited the families of the missing participants of Karabakh War in Yerevan.

Following the solemn ceremony in Yerablur Memorial Complex, Ohanyan visited Alvard Gharibyan, the mother of the missing fighter Arthur Gharibyan from Arabo detachment. The minister laid flowers at the Arabo cross-stone founded in memory of the squad fighters. During a friendly talk, Ohanyan touched on the issue of search of the missing persons, and inquired about the problems of the missing fighter. Alvard Gharibyan thanked the minister and said she’s aware of the problems related to the search of the missing persons, taking into account the unwillingness of the Azerbaijani side to cooperate. By the end of the meeting, Ohanyan wished health and patience to the missing fighter’s mother.

On the same day, the member of the Commission on POWs, Hostages and Missing People visited several families, living in different areas of Yerevan.

According to the statistics of the Commission, as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict over 200 people are considered missing from Armenia.  The overall number of the missing people from Armenia and Karabakh during the war is roughly one thousand.
