YEREVAN. – The police have used violence while detaining the demonstrators at Baghramyan Avenue in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, and who are demanding the revoking of the recent decision to raise the price of electricity in the country (PHOTOS).

Sixteen-year-old protester Tigran Kirishchyan told about the aforementioned to the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter at the scene. Kirishchyan likewise was forcibly detained and taken to a police station. But when it was found out that he is a minor, he was released.

In his words, the police officers had unexpectedly approached him, hit him in the back, and took him away pulling him from his arms.

Those released from the police department noted that force was used against them, too, while being detained.

Opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan is at the said police station. He stated, however, that no charges will be brought against the detainees, no administrative proceedings will be launched against them, and they should be released probably in about three hours.

Six people, including girls, already have been released from the police station.
