On the occasion of the end of Ramadan, which is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, a chocolate cake weighing over 1,100 kg was prepared in Dubai.

The cake comprises eight layers, and it is decorated with golden stars and moons as well as verses from the Quran, the central religious text of Islam.

Cake artist Gelly Kalouta had prepared this chocolate cake in three weeks, during almost the entire Ramadan Fasting, reported Kedem. But Kalouta said she did not taste any piece of the chocolate.

A total of 1,000 kg of high-quality chocolate, 50 kg of chocolate paste, and 6 cans of gold spray were used to make this cake.

The chocolate cake has gone on display in La Farine restaurant at the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai for the remainder of the holy month, after which it will be sold as dessert.
