YEREVAN. - The public discussion against constitutional reforms in Armenia held by Paruyr Hayrikyan, leader of Armenia’s Union for National Self-Determination, has kicked off in Yerevan’s Liberty Square.

The discussion is attended by “Founding Parliament”civic initiative members Jirair Sefilian, Garegin  Chugaszyan, “Rise up, Armenia” civic initiative members Davit Sanasaryan, Andrias Ghukasyan, “Heritage” faction Deputy Head Armen Martirosyan, political analyst Hmayak Hovhannisyan and roughly thirty citizens.

According to Hayrikyan, those who have gathered in the square are the political forces and citizens who are concerned about constitutional reforms.

“We don’t criticize the changes favoring Armenian leaders. We just say no to those changes,” Hayrikyan said, adding that the main fault of the constitutional reforms is that they contain no precise condition regarding citizens. According to Hayrikyan, if a unanimous decision is made during this discussion, on July 30 they will march to Constitutional Court from Yerevan’s Matenadaran with the political forces present.”

Small number of police is present in the square.
