A lightning strike in Mexico took the lives of seven people, Entorno Inteligente reports.

The incident took place in the rural area of the Guanajuato state in the central part of the country. The victims - all members of one family – were in the field when they were caught out by a thunder storm.  They tried to hide under the tree, but it was struck by the lightning.

The personalities of the dead have been identified: these were three women and four children, the youngest of which was three, the eldest being fourteen.  

Two more people were hurt by the strike, but their lives are not in danger, Lenta reports, citing Associated Press.
