Monseigneur Krikor Gabroyan, who was bishop of the Armenian Catholics of France until April 2013, has been elected new Patriarch of the Armenian Catholic Church.

As a result, Gabroyan has become the successor to Nerses Bedros XIX Tarmouni, reported the French Armenian Nouvelles d’Arménie monthly magazine.

As reported earlier, the Synod of Bishops of the Armenian Catholic Church had convened at the seat of the Armenian Catholic Patriarchate in Lebanon to elect a successor to Catholicos Patriarch Nerses Bedros XIX Tarmouni, who had died on June 25 at the age of 75.
