The trial on border-crossing of Yeghishe Gevorgyan is starting in Armenia.

The trial will be held in the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Vedi town of Armenia’s Vayots Dzor province. The first hearing is scheduled on August 13, with Levon Arazyan as the presiding judge.  

The Gevogyans – Yeghishe, 52, his wife Rouzanna and three children – crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on 10 January 2010, appearing in the territory of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. 

Yeghishe Gevorgyan was tried 8 times, and was suspected in implication in grave crime by the time of illegal border crossing. The Gevorgyans were returned to Armenia on 12 December 2014.

Criminal case was launched on the illegal crossing of Armenian state border by the Gevorgyans.

Yeghishe and Rouzanna Gevorgyan are charged under Article 329(2) of the Armenian Criminal Code.
