YEREVAN. - Before blaming others, the Azerbaijani public figures should fist think of their own actions, military expert Arkadi Grigoryan said, commenting on the statement of Hafis Sefikhanov, the head of public association of “Azerbaijani campaign against mines.” The latter had stated that Armenia allegedly violates international conventions.

“Armenia produces a lot of things, but this doesn’t mean at all that the accusation on violating conventions is relevant. Conversely, by actively developing its military industry, Armenia does not slip the chance to show on the ground its commitment to peace. It is exactly the Armenian side which demands to remove the snipers and create a mechanism for investigating the incidents. But the Azerbaijani side objects in every way possible,” the expert said.

“At least the Azerbaijani shouldn’t enrage on the non-fulfillment of international conventions. Numerous facts on inhuman treatment to captives, resulting in death in several cases, violation of the rights of captives in terms of the ICRC visits, violation of the rights of captives in terms of exchange of family news, blatant violation of all possible humanitarian norms, when the Azerbaijani Armed Forces didn’t even allow the ICRC and OSCE representatives to approach the shot-down Karabakh helicopter, where some of the crew member might have been alive. Even in the light of the aforementioned, the Azerbaijani public figures are distorting the facts only to blame the Armenian side,” Grigoryan said.
