Shushanik Bakhshyan’s license has not been canceled, as reported by the Medical Centre.

Criminal case into the death of Meri Margaryan and her daughter was opened on August 3 under Article 130(2) of the Armenian Criminal Code. According to Armenia’s Investigative Committee, Shushanik Bakhshyan was involved in a malpractice, as a result of which Meri Margaryan, who was on the 35th week of her pregnancy, passed away. No one has yet been charged.

According to the Investigative Committee, Meri Margaryan died from double pneumonia and a number of other complications. Several days after Margaryan’s death, Shengavit Medical Centre announced she had no double pneumonia. According to Meri’s brother, her sister had been running high temperature for several days, but the doctor was calming her down, advising to take paracetamol. The woman was hospitalized at the insistence of her relatives, but she felt worse in the hospital. Then it was decided to move her to the multi-specialized “Erebouni” medical centre, where Meri had Caesarean section, 2 days after which she died. The following day her newborn daughter passed away as well.
