YEREVAN. – The Military General Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia has opened a criminal case on the death of serviceman Ashot Hovhannisyan.

Hovhannisyan, 25, died on the spot, on Tuesday at around 11:40pm, at the military base of a Ministry of Defense unit, and from the gunshot wounds he had sustained from the shots fired due to breaking the rules of conducting military watch, informed the Investigative Committee.

A criminal case has been launched on charges of breaking the rules of conducting military watch, or military service, and which has led to severe consequences.
