Russia’s Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) seized 200 kg sturgeon in Sochi airport, which was imported from Armenia by “Ararat Forel” LLC. The seized fish was burnt, RUSARMINFO reports.

Victoria Kokosyan, Deputy Head of the Russian State Border Veterinary Control Division of Krasnodar Oblast, said the reason behind the seizure of sturgeon was the fact that the Armenian company didn’t have an attestation document for the import of goods to Russia's territory, and wasn’t included in Rosselkhoznadzor’s enterprise list.

She also said the representative of the company which delivered sturgeon, himself submitted an application requesting to destroy the goods. Burning on the spot was chosen as a way of destroying the goods, since the only disposal plant is located far from Sochi and taking the goods there made no sense.
