YEREVAN. – The number of schools has reduced in Armenia.

Head of the Social and Nature Protection Statistics Division at the National Statistical Service, Nelli Baghdasaryan, stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Wednesday.

Baghdasaryan added, however, that the number of schools has remained unchanged in capital city Yerevan. Even though this number was down in 2013, it was back up to the previous level in 2014.

The number of schools has decreased by four in the Shirak Province, whereas this figure has dropped by a mere one or two in the other nine provinces.

Overall, the number of state-run schools in Armenia has reduced from 1,404 to 1,391; this includes towns—from 533 to 528, and villages—from 871 to 863.
