The Turkish public is angered by the sister of a Turkish soldier who was killed during the attacks against Kurdish militants.

The family members of Turkish soldier Hakan Akturk, who was killed during a clash with Kurdish militants in Siirt Province, said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had phoned them, informed Sozcu daily of Turkey.

The dead soldier’s sister had answered the phone call from Erdogan and said to him: “Should our children, our older brothers have to pay the price just because your votes have dropped?”

And the Turkish president had replied: “[Then] your older brother should not have chosen this [i.e. the military] profession.”
