YEREVAN. – Armenian statesman Murad Muradyan, who served as mayor of capital city Yerevan from 1975 to 1985, has passed away almost at the age of 85.

Muradyan, who was also Honorary Citizen of Yerevan, was born on October 26, 1930 in Gyumri.

He was also member of the Supreme Councils (Parliaments) of the ex-USSR and the Armenian SSR.

Since 2008, Murad Muradyan was serving as Chairman of the Presidential Commission on Pardons.
