The farce called “trial” of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) citizen Arsen Baghdasaryan, and during which the rights of Baghdasaryan—who had inadvertently found himself in Azerbaijan—are flagrantly violated, is still in progress in this country.

Military Prosecutor of Azerbaijan, Khanlar Valiyev, said in his article published by Xalq newspaper that the court had proved the “crimes” committed by Baghdasaryan and he was fairly sentenced, reported APA news agency of Azerbaijan.

In Valiyev’s words, the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the country also continues the investigation into the case of other members of the “criminal group.”

NKR citizen Arsen Baghdasaryan was taken into Azerbaijan captivity on December 26 of the year past. Within the framework of a hastily concocted case, he was charged with “sabotage” and sentenced to fifteen years in a maximum security prison.

Baghdasaryan was accused of acts he had not committed.

In addition, no formal information was given on the reasons for Baku’s refusal to allow, for a long time, the International Committee of the Red Cross to meet with the Armenian captive.

Such a demeanor by the Azerbaijani authorities was a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and human rights.
