The status quo in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone is not advantageous for Azerbaijan.

Thomas de Waal, a senior associate at the Washington-based Carnegie Endowment, and who specializes primarily in the South Caucasus region, said the aforementioned at a discussion on Friday.

In his conviction, this is the reason that Azerbaijan’s sole leverage to have an impact on the situation is the leverage of war. 

De Waal stressed that this leverage is the incidents and the ceasefire violations, and that this is a serious problem for everyone to this day.
