YEREVAN. - The acknowledgement of the Armenian Genocide will not stop with the Centennial of this crime, Eduard Sharmazanov, spokesman of Armenia’s ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and Vice President of parliament told Armenian News – NEWS.am after the session of the RPA Supreme body today.

“In the speech delivered in the UN Assembly on September 29, President of Armenia precisely noted that we will continue our efforts towards the Genocide acknowledgment.

Sargsyan reminded that the previous year, on the eve of the Armenian Genocide Centennial, he nominally thanked the countries, which acknowledged the Armenian Genocide, urging the entire international community to give new impetus to the struggle against future genocides.

This time he uttered words of gratitude to Pope Francis with regard to his historic liturgy in April, and especially singled out the leaders of Russia, France, Cyprus and Serbia, as well as the dignitaries who arrived in Armenia to attend the commemoration events. He also named the countries which acknowledged the Genocide this year: Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Chili. Besides, Sargsyan referred to the important speech of the German President,” Sharmazanov said.
