Results of the Armenian side’s forensic psychological and psychiatric evaluations of Russian soldier Valery Permyakov, who is the defendant in the case into the brutal murder of the Avetisyan family in Armenia’s Gyumri city, are known.The Armenian News-NEWS.am sources at the law enforcement have informed the aforesaid.

And according to these results, Permyakov is deemed sane.

Representatives of the legal successors of the victims also were on hand at these forensic psychological and psychiatric examinations that were conducted on September 17, at the 102nd Russian Military Base in Gyumri.

As a result of a psychiatric evaluation that was earlier conducted by the Russian side, the soldier was declared mentally sound, albeit some abnormalities were observed.

Six members of the Avetisyan family—including a two-year-old girl—were shot dead, and a six-month-old baby—Seryozha Avetisyan—was wounded in their house in Gyumri on January 12; but the baby boy died in hospital on January 19.

Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the 102nd Russian Military Base in the city, is charged with these murders.

Armenia and Russia instituted criminal cases on charges of murder and military desertion, respectively. On August 12, the Russian court sentenced Permyakov to ten years in prison.
