YEREVAN. – The information that has appeared in the media, and according to which Azerbaijan had not permitted a Russian Antonov An-124 Ruslan strategic airlift jet aircraft—which supposedly had taken off from the Gyumri city airport in Armenia—to fly over its airspace, has given rise to suspicion among experts.

According to well-informed sources of Armenian News-NEWS.am, this “information” and the respective publicized “recording” are not credible, first because the Gyumri airport cannot accept such types of aircrafts.

And even though Erebuni Airport—which is a joint civil and military airport in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan—can serve an An-124 Ruslan, there have not been such planes there for more than a year.

No relevant comments have yet been received from the Russian side.

According to the “information” posted on the mil_avia blog, once Azerbaijan had disallowed this aircraft’s flight over its airspace, the airplane was allegedly forced to return to Gyumri.
