The presentation of the exclusive seven-volume book by Fr. Georges Henri Ruyssen took place in Pontificial Oriental Institute of Rome’s Santa Maria Maggiore church Saturday upon the initiative of Armenian Embassy in the Holy See. 

The event was attended by Pontificial Oriental Institute President David Nazar, founder of Community of Sant'Egidio Ejidio Andrea Riccardi and Community President Marco Impagliazzo, clergymen from Armenian Apostolic and Catholic churches, representatives of social and political sector, as well as members of Italian-Armenian community.  

The book includes all the Armenian Genocide-related documents kept in Vatican’s close achieves, starting from Hamidian massacres to years of post-genocidal Kemal governance period, which allows to get the full picture about all stages of the crime – from its preparation to its perpetration, Armenian MFA press-service reports.   

Armenian Ambassador to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan made an address at the event, specifically noting that the seven-volume book is a serious achievement in the field of genocide studies, at the same time being the history which also belongs to the Turks.  “The work of Father Ruyssen helps us deal with the facts. It helps us read the past, learning lessons for the future.”

At the event, Amabssador Mikayelyan bestowed on Fr. Georges Henri Ruyssen the Armenian President’s Medal of Honor for significant contribution to the development of Armenian Studies and disseminating moral values.
