YEREVAN. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan today held a working discussion with the heads of Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) and police on certain issues related to the powers of these law enforcement authorities.

Referring to the reports of the NSS Director and head of the Armenian Police, the President said that the current geopolitical developments force to beef up the measures directed at ensuring the security level of Armenian citizens and each person in the country.

“These measures must, first of all, be preventive in nature and should not interfere with our country’s regular activities, apparently not limiting our citizens. With this regard, the professionalism of all those people involved in these events is of essential significance. I don’t even doubt for a second that we have relevant specialists, corresponding people, who have devoted themselves to that work, and will carry it out with honor,” the President said.

With this regard, Sargsyan touched on the neutralization of an armed group in Yerevan by NSS last night. According to him, it is due to the work of such people that Armenia is included in the list of the safest countries in the world.

Sargsyan gave a number of instructions to the law enforcement authorities, stressing that the preventive measures aimed at ensuring public security must be continuous and consistent in nature.
