MOSCOW. - Every time the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan apply small weapons of all calibers, mortars and artillery cannons against the Republic of Armenia, they fire at Astana, Dushanbe and Bishkek, Moscow and Minsk. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said the aforementioned, speaking at the CSTO Security Council session held in Moscow today.

“I’ll remind that we have a corresponding article in the Charter. And if we not only fail to apply this article, but also don’t discuss the situation emerged and don’t consider it necessary to take the phone and inquire on what is happening in ally Armenia, at the same time voting against the interests of the ally in international organizations, adopting bilateral declarations with third countries, the text of which is aimed against the CSTO allies, we merely subject our entire Organization, its prestige and significance to these shots.

The policy of Azerbaijan is aimed at the escalation of the conflict. Unfortunately, following the Dushanbe session, the situation not only didn’t stabilize, but got tenser in nature. The Azerbaijani side doesn’t limit itself by heavy artillery, also that of Turkish production. On December 8, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan launched tank and howitzer firing for the first time since the ceasefire in 1994, which brings the tension to a new and very dangerous level.    

Considering the recent tense atmosphere in the region, one shouldn’t exclude the possibility that Azerbaijan made this step, having prompts and backing from outside,” Sargsyan said.
