YEREVAN. - The customs authorities of Armenia will be the first in the Eurasian Union to introduce distance tracking of cargo in real time on the entire territory of the country. Armenia’s Finance Minister Gagik Khachatryan told the aforementioned to Armenian News - NEWS.am, commenting on the loan agreement with China, ratified by the Armenian parliament in November 2015.

The loan in the amount of 156 million Yuan will be directed at the modernization of customs equipment. The means will be provided on concessionary terms (2 percent per annum, for 20 years). A virtual electronic lock will be ascribed to the goods arriving in Armenia, due to which it will be possible to track the cargo via GPRS on the entire territory of the country, including the customs houses.

The new tracking equipment will also be applied for trains. X-rays, which will check and shoot the content of the cargo trains (in motion, if necessary), will be installed at the border railway station Ayrum.

Apart from fixed scanners, portable ones will also be obtained. The latter will allow to track the cargo without unpacking it.
