YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev will not dare to go to a large-scale war in Karabakh; the risks are high for him, since he has been left on his own.

Armenian political scientist and Director of the Modus Vivendi Center, Ambassador Ara Papyan, noted the abovementioned at a press conference on Monday.

In his view, there is a great risk that such a war will go in an unwanted direction for Aliyev.

“Sadly, the tension in the Karabakh conflict zone will continue; there will be casualties,” Papyan stressed. “But I don’t predict a full-scale war.”

As per the analyst, there will be no change in the conduct of the Azerbaijani president.

And to the query on whether the ongoing drop in world oil prices may impact the superpowers’ positions regarding Azerbaijan, Ara Papyan responded: “The attitude toward Azerbaijan has already changed. The oil era is already over. A technological revolution has occurred, and this is impossible to ignore. It’s impossible to predict a good future for Azerbaijan.”
