YEREVAN. – There is a great domain for Armenia in the information technology (IT) sector of Iran, economist Tatul Manaseryan said at a press conference on Saturday.

In his words, fortunately, Armenia-Iran relations are at high level.

“But it should be noted that Iran was acting more in the role of the initiator,” Manaseryan noted. “This was due to the West’s position on Tehran, and some cautiousness by the Armenian side.”

Political scientist Aram Safaryan, for his part, stressed that, after lifting of the international sanctions on Iran, Armenian businesses will have positive expectations.

“[But] if we [i.e. Armenia] want to have real role in Russia-Iran cooperation, our knowledge about Iran’s economy, policy and geopolitics needs considerable updating,” Safaryan added.
