YEREVAN. – The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs’ position on the reports, which were presented at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), was a surprise for no one.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, noted the abovementioned at a press conference on Tuesday.

The minister recalled that the Minsk Group is the only internationally-recognized format mandated to make efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and that Azerbaijan attempts to change this format.

In his words, the PACE-adopted report is of technical nature.

“It’s another question as to what extent the report is acceptable, if its writer has not even been to the Sarsang Reservoir, although she was repeatedly invited [there],” Nalbandian stated. “It’s not the first time that Azerbaijan is attempting to make use of PACE.”

Edward Nalbandian added that Azerbaijan is doing everything to undermine the efforts by the Minsk Group co-chairs.

On January 26, PACE voted against MP Robert Walter’s (UK) one-sided report entitled “Escalation of Violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan,” but adopted MP Milica Marković’s (Bosnia and Herzegovina) one-sided report about Sarsang Reservoir in Nagorno-Karabakh, and entitled “Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water.”
