According to the program on enlargement of municipalities,  22 communities will unite after the elections in Armenia’s Syunik, Lori and Tavush provinces on February 14.

As a result of enlargement of Tatev community, Tatev, Halidzor, Harzhis, Shinuhayr, Svarants, Khot, Tandzatap and Kashuni communities will unite.  Shinuhayr will become the municipal center of the community given its relatively developed infrastructure and the number of population.

3 candidates have been nominated for the post of the head of the new Tatev community: representative of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Murad Simonyan, who is the current community leader of Tatev, as well as non-partisan Igor Abrahamyan and Varsham Bagratyan.

Haghartsin, Teghout, Gosh, Aghavnavank, Khachardzan and Hovk communities will unite round Dilijan town in Armenia’s Tavush province. Current Mayor Armen Santrosyan, who is an RPA member, and non-partisan Zhora Sahabalyan will struggle for the post of the administration head.

Communities of Marts, Karinj, Lorut, Shamut, Atan and Ahnidzor will unite round Tumanyan city of the country’s Lori province. The only candidate is the current Mayor of the city, Levon Zavaryan. His rival Edgar Poghosyan, who is a first-class specialist at Tumanyan administration, earlier withdrew his candidacy. None of the leaders of smaller communities has nominated his candidacy.
