YEREVAN. – Armenia has slowed down in fighting corruption, head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, told the media Tuesday in capital city Yerevan.

He recalled that Armenia lost 2 points in the Corruption Perceptions Index 2015, which is compiled by Transparency International, slipping down one spot to 95th position.

Some say comfort themselves saying that Armenia is the least corrupted state in the Eurasian Economic Union. But the neighboring Georgia is a case to consider: the country has advanced up the ranks to the 48th place, Świtalski pointed out.

Of course, Armenian agenda may not necessarily be a carbon copy of the Georgian experience. But there are plenty of their cases and sources to draw expertise and knowledge from: Armenia is certainly not a unique country to tackle corruption, he concluded.
