YEREVAN. – Armenia can and should endeavor to compete in the cargo transfer between India and Europe.

Khosrov Harutyunyan, member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) National Assembly Faction, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday.

In his words, India’s economy is one of the largest and the most dynamic among its own kind.

Naturally, as per Harutyunyan, Iran is a very convenient starting point for India. But subsequently, these goods can be transported either from Bandar-e Anzali (Iran) to Astrakhan (Russia) via the Caspian Sea, or by land via Armenia or Azerbaijan.

“Armenia has good chances for the transfer of Iranian goods,” the RPA MP added. “Armenia can become a road for Iran toward the EEU [i.e. the Eurasian Economic Union], and first of all—[toward] the Russian market. But [we, Armenia,] need to act and not wait until Iran itself will think about us.”
