Armenia has always said it wanted to become a member in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian told Kommersant daily newspaper of Russia.
“The decision [for Armenia] to become an EEU member was made by taking into account all interests stemming from this project,” Nalbandian noted. “We [i.e. Armenia] did not choose this format as a counterbalance to another format.
“The EEU has just been formed, and it is too early to talk about results in such a short period of time. However, the positive side of this integration process is apparent, despite the global economic difficulties.”
The EEU comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
