YEREVAN. – The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Friday received Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze.

The President expressed the hope that Janelidze’s first official visit to Armenia will boost Armenian-Georgian relations.

Sargsyan noted that the high-level Armenia-Georgia contacts and political discourse have notably intensified. Also, he underscored the active work by the Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission, and the close interparliamentary contacts.

The Armenian President and the Georgian FM shared the view that despite being engaged in two different integration processes, Armenia and Georgia have great potential to develop cooperation.

Janelidze, for his part, stressed that, in his deep conviction, along with high-level political relations, there are ample opportunities for the development of economic relations and implementation of prospective joint projects.

In addition, Serzh Sargsyan and Mikheil Janelidze highlighted the two countries’ policies that are balanced and based on the respect for mutual interests, regarding sensitive issues of fundamental importance for each other, and effective cooperation within international organizations.
