YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia strongly condemns the Azerbaijani armed forces’ most recent military actions along the Line of Contact with Nagorno-Karabakh and the border with Armenia, also, making civilian facilities and settlements the targets of attacks.

“Baku’s ongoing steps toward a breakdown in the [Karabakh conflict] negotiation process and recent refusal from the meetings with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, the intensified military actions which Azerbaijan has launched, are other futile attempts at speaking in the language of blackmail,” the Armenian MFA respective statement specifically reads. “Baku flagrantly violates numerous calls by the international community to resolve the key issue through negotiations.

“Taking into consideration exactly this kind of development of the situation which Azerbaijan carries out today, we repeatedly have invited the international community’s attention, urged to rein in the military ambitions of Baku.

“This next step by Azerbaijan in the escalation of the situation, considering its extensive scale, the types of weapons used, the choice of the targets, speaks to the fact that Baku is going on the road of consistently exacerbating the situation, which makes it imperative for the international community to take practical steps to call Azerbaijan to order.”

As reported earlier, Azerbaijan launched outright offensive military actions along the Line of Contact between the Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing forces, from late Friday night through Saturday morning, using a variety of weaponry as well as artillery, armored vehicles, and air force.

As a result, a 12-year-old Armenian boy was killed, and two other children were wounded.

The antiaircraft units of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Defense Army, however, have downed two military helicopters of the adversary.
