YEREVAN. – A total of 700,000 Armenian drams (AMD) are allocated to the families of the soldiers who fell during the recent hostilities, for the funeral costs of their loved one, and AMD 1.4 million is allocated for the gravestone costs.

Martin Mkrtchyan, attorney of the Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Armenia, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Monday.

“Also, one-time AMD 2 million is provided to the families of the fallen and deceased military servicemen, as insurance payment,” he added.

In Mkrtchyan’s words, the families of the fallen Armenian soldiers will also be able to get free medical care plus a monthly pension of AMD 30 thousand.

And Smbat Saiyan, Deputy Head of the State Social Security Service, said if the fallen military serviceman was an officer and he had, for example, two minors, his family will receive a monthly average of AMD 180 thousand as bonus. And if the parents of the fallen soldiers are pensioners, they will get AMD 90 thousand per month.

Also, if the soldier who became disabled as a result of the recent military actions is an officer, he shall receive an average monthly pension of AMD 50 thousand. And if he is on compulsory military service, he will get AMD 18 thousand to AMD 38 thousand, depending on the disability status.

Bank accounts have opened to provide assistance to the families of the fallen Armenian soldiers who fell during the four-day war, which Azerbaijan had unleashed in early April.

To note, one US dollar is currently equivalent to approximately AMD 482.
