YEREVAN. - The presentation of the CD entitled “Armenian Composers” took place at the Komitas Museum-Institute in Yerevan Tuesday.

The CD, released in 2015 by the famous Dutch Billiant Classics sound recording company, includes all the songs of Romanos Melikian and Tigran Mansurian, as well as selections from Artur Avanesov’s “Feux follets” piano cycle. All the voice parts are performed by famous Armenian mezzo-soprano Mariam Sarkissian.

During the presentation, Artur Avanesov presented five selections from the “Feux follets” cycle, included in the CD: “You are more beautiful than the cedars of Lebanon”, “Du bist die Ruh”, “Des Fleurs et des abimes”, etc.

Mariam Sarkissian sang three songs from Romanos Melikian’s “Zmrukhti” cycle - “I am a nightingale”, “The night tumbled down”, “You sparkle” –two songs from “Four hayrens” cycle based on the poems of Nahapet Kuchak -  “I was of those birds”, “Soul of my soul” – and a cycle based on the poems of Federico García Lorca.  

The event commemorated the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
