YEREVAN. - All people in Belgium know about the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, Frederick von Vargen and Maria Dinimans, a Belgian couple travelling in the Caucasus, told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

“All people in Belgium know about the Armenian Genocide. Of course, we knew about it before arriving in Armenia. Our children know about it; our grandchildren are aware of it too,” they said.

In the couple’s words, since the information on the Genocide is available in Europe and many people know what happened in 1915, many Europeans are against Turkey’s accession to the EU.

Frederick and Maria have arrived in Armenia recently, and today, on April 24, tey honored the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims. They also visited the Armenian Genocide Museum, where they got familiar with all the photos and documents.

“We liked the museum. It very well reflects the past. Information here is not exaggerated at all,” the travelers said.

This is the couple’s first visit to Armenia, and they like everything here – churches, people, and “even food”.

“Before our arrival here, we visited Georgia. I must say that the food in Armenia is much tastier than in Georgia, and more similar to ours,” Maria confessed.

Belgium is one of the countries, which has recognized the Armenian Genocide.
