A number of events commemorating the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide took place in Sweden Sunday.

A march to the Turkish Embassy took place in Stockholm, by the end of which the participants took part in the Holy Mass dedicated to the Armenian Genocide at Saint Jacob's Church in central Kungsträdgården park. The event was attended by Armenian Ambassador to Sweden Artak Apitonyan and representatives of the Armenian institutions.

The mass was followed by a a march to the central Sergels torg Square in Stockholm, organized by the representatives of the Swedish community.  

Similar events also took place in Södertälje, Örebro,  Norrköping, Gothenburg and Malmö cities.

Mayor Boel Godner attended the mass held at St. Mary  church in Södertälje. The latter referred to the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide in his speech.

The event held in Örebro started with laying wreath at the memorial dedicated to the Armenian Genocide victims. Swedish MP Eva-Lena Jansson and former MP Murad Artin, who is the member of Örebro community council, delivered speeches at the event. The event continued at the church, where Mayor of Örebro Agneta Blom delivered a speech.
