YEREVAN. - Upon the initiative of the U.S., President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan talked by phone with the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry Monday.  The sides discussed the situation emerged as a result of the gross violation of ceasefire by Azerbaijan on the Line of Contact in early April.

President Sargsyan stressed that Baku’s irresponsible steps greatly harmed the negotiation process.

For his part, Mr Kerry reconfirmed that the U.S fully supports the process of peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict. Both sides stressed that there is no alternative to the peaceful settlement of the conflict and that mutually acceptable solution mechanisms based on fundamental principles should be found.

Importance was attached to the role of the OSCE Minsk Group chairmanship, considering that it is the only internationally recognized format of the conflict settlement.
