Quebec’s National Assembly unanimously passed a motion for the commemoration of the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The motion was read by Member of National Assembly Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie and Minister responsible for the Laurentides region, Ms. Christine St-Pierre, Acadie riding, Liberal Party of Quebec, Horizonweekly reported.

In the motion that was passed unanimously, the National Assembly also commented that "they encourage all parties to dialogue to arrive to a durable and just peace‎ in the Nagorno-Karabagh region."

Every year, for the last 36 years, with the leadership and work of the Armenian National Committee of Quebec, the MNAs of all parties take a moment to honour the memory of those perished in the first Genocide of the 20th century.

The Quebec National Assembly asks Quebecers of all communities to join the Armenians on May 8th for the March for Humanity and Prevention of Genocide.

This year, ANCQ’s work also culminated with the additional statement during the intervention segment on the motion on the upcoming march on May 8th.

ANCQ states that “Quebec’s MNA’s voices join other organizations in Quebec and around the world that everything must be done to never again repeat the horrors of the Armenian Genocide. Raising awareness is vital and as such, we would like to echo their invite to all Quebecers of all different backgrounds to join the Arrmenians for yet another historic walk in Downtown Montreal on Sunday May 8th at 3pm.”
