YEREVAN. - 25 years ago, on 30 April 1991, the launch of another manifestation of the terrorism policy adopted by Azerbaijan against the Armenian people was announced. This included the elimination of the Armenian population in northern part of Nagorno-Karabakh and national dispossession, Armenian Deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan said Friday on occasion of the 25th anniversary of Operation Ring carried out by Azerbaijan against the Armenian civil population.

“These actions, which are up to now justified by the Azerbaijani authorities, can be given only one legal definition: crime against humanity," he said.

According to Kocharyan, the atrocities of the armed Azerbaijani gangs and the involvement of the Soviet Army in this received corresponding assessment by the international community, including international human right organization. This also found its reflection in the resolutions of the Russian and U.S. legislative bodies, as well as the European Parliament, he added.

"Nevertheless, Azerbaijan didn’t give up its policy based on anti-Armenian sentiments and racism, the April aggression and the accompanying atrocities against Nagorno-Karabakh being the latest evidence of this. Through their originally adopted policy of force, anti-Armenian sentiments and atrocities characteristic of terrorist groups, the Azerbaijani authorities proved why self-determined Nagorno-Karabakh Republic can’t be part of Azerbaijan,” the Deputy FM said.
