YEREVAN. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has appointed Armen Harutyunyan as temporary acting Head of the Compulsory Enforcement Service of Judicial Orders of Armenia.

Prior to this, Harutyunyan used to be aide to President of Armenia.

On April 18, Mihran Poghosyan, Head of the Compulsory Enforcement Service of Judicial Orders of Armenia, submitted his resignation to President Serzh Sargsyan. “My name also came up recently in the publications, in Armenian and international press, about the Panamanian offshores [i.e. the Panama Papers],” Poghosyan’s letter of resignation specifically notes. “I regret that my name is mentioned alongside Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s family, which really has privatized billions of dollars. I find it unacceptable that my person becomes a cause for any civilizational parallel between my country and dictatorial Azerbaijan, [and] therefore today I submitted my resignation from the office I hold. Now, I will publicly reflect on the offshore publications as an ordinary citizen, without possessing state levers,” he mentioned in his resignation.
